Job Opportunity:

As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for ensuring that software products meet the highest quality standards before the release. This role includes creating comprehensive test strategies, planning, and organizing test activities, and executing automated tests. Mentor the QA Engineers, coordinate with Software Engineers and Product Managers, and continuously work to improve QA processes and practices. Your technical expertise will be crucial in maintaining the reliability, performance, and functionality of our software products.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and maintain automation frameworks for web, API, and/or mobile applications.
  • Implement reusable, scalable, and maintainable test scripts.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop utilities and tools to support automation and test data management.
  • Collaborate with QA and development teams to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical design.
  • Identify appropriate test coverage for automation and prioritize based on business impact.
  • Execute and maintain regression, smoke, and integration test suits across multiple environments.
  • Participate in test case reviews to ensure clarity, completeness, and traceability to requirements.
  • Work closely with developers to review code for testability and identify areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to ensure test environments, data, and pipelines are reliable and scalable.
  • Participate in code reviews for automation projects and contribute to test design discussions.
  • Assist in setting up mock APIs, stubs, and data simulators for isolated testing.
  • Investigate and adopt new automation tools or frameworks that improve efficiency and coverage.
  • Contribute to establishing best practices and standards for automation and test improvements.
  • Perform root cause analysis for escaped defects and propose process or test improvements.
  • Mentor junior QA engineers in automation fundamentals and scripting practices.
  • Act as a quality advocate within the scrum team, ensuring that quality is embedded at every stage of the SDLC.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 6 – 10 years of professional experience in Software testing and automation development.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing robust automation solutions for complex systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Java, C#, Python, JavaScript or Golang).
  • Hands on experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, or PyTest.
  • Experience with API automation and tools like Postman, RestAssured, etc.
  • Working knowledge of microservices architecture, Docker, and AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (GitHub), CI/CD tools and agile practices.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across engineering and QA teams.
  • Proactive mindset toward process improvement, quality advocacy, and test reliability.
  • Knowledge of performance testing methodologies and tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner or NeoLoad for assessing system scalability and reliability is nice to have.
  • Experience in security testing practices and tools like OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite for identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities preferred.
  • Having experience with SQL and NoSQL is a plus.

The base salary range for this position in Boston is $115,000 to $150,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
