Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Operational Risk Analyst to join our risk team in Dublin. This is a dynamic and varied role that offers broad exposure across the organisation. As a key member of the risk function, you will work closely with the Chief Risk Officer and the Head of IT Governance and Operational Resilience to support the ongoing oversight and enhancement of BHSI’s risk management framework. Operating as part of the second line of defence, the risk team partners with all business units to ensure that risks are effectively identified, assessed, and managed by the first line. This role will work closely with other central functions, global Legal, Risk, Compliance and Governance teammates, and directly with the business. Periodic travel to our European offices may be required. More experienced candidates may be considered for a Senior Operational Risk Analyst role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform quarterly risk and control assessments including IT risks. Actively engage with risk owners to ensure effective management of the company’s risks.
- Collaborate with business units and group entities, on operational resilience initiatives, including scenario testing, business impact assessments (BIAs) and response planning.
- Regularly monitor the company’s performance against the risk appetite statements and key risk indicators.
- Perform 2nd Line assurance testing on the control environment.
- Perform risk assessments and due diligence of third-party service providers for the approval of the Risk Committee and Board.
- Participate in thematic reviews outlined in the annual risk plan.
- Collaborate with Management and stakeholders in the production and documentation of the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA).
- Identify and monitor risk incidents and near misses.
- Prepare quality management information reports for both internal Committees and regulators.
- Assist in the continuous enhancement and development of the Risk Management Framework, IT Risk Management and Operational Resilience Framework.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 4+ years of risk management experience in financial services. Qualified Accountant or similar experience preferable.
- Knowledge of IT risk and operational resilience practices, ideally supported by experience in applying or advising on frameworks like the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
- Experience in preparing and presenting high quality reports for internal and external stakeholders demonstrating a strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills. This is a people facing role requiring a friendly and approachable professional.
- Ability to manage and prioritise competing demands. Ability to work efficiently in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
