Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Claims Consultant based in our Sydney office. The role is an external customer facing role and will support our claims offering within the Executive & Professional lines business.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage claims across all Executive & Professional lines including Professional Indemnity, Directors’ and Officers’ Liability, Cyber and Financial Institutions, Management Liability and Employment Practices Liability from first notice of loss through to ultimate resolution in accordance with the BHSI Claims Service Standards.
- Providing high level customer service and technical claims management with a proactive approach to achieving strong results for our customers.
- Investigating and managing claims which includes close cooperation with the insured and broker, determination of policy coverage, case strategy and reserve adequacy.
- Ability to supplement in-house claims handling expertise with appropriate engagement of legal providers as required.
- Work closely with underwriters, actuaries and other areas of the business to report on claim developments and trends to support the development of products and delivery of the Executive & Professional line of business’ goals and objectives.
- Occasional travel to client/broker meetings, mediations, conferences and other industry events.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications. Minimum 5 years’ experience handling a broad range of financial lines claims. Experience in legal practice will also be considered.
- Ability to efficiently extract and analyse relevant case facts and legal issues from large amounts of correspondence, in order to formulate and implement thoughtful claim strategy.
- A high level of professionalism and personal responsibility.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
