Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a First Party Claims Senior Adjuster to join our dynamic Claims team in Madrid. The individual will be responsible for coordinating the adjustment of a variety of first party claims (commercial property, energy, construction, surety and marine) across the portfolio. This is an opportunity to work within a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to best in class claims handling.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing first party (commercial property, energy, construction, surety and marine) claims
- Proactively investigate and handle claims from first notice of loss through ultimate resolution while advising internal stakeholders and meeting with clients and brokers as required.
- Collaborating with customers, brokers, independent adjusters and lawyers
- Prepare reports, accurately set reserves within handling authority, or make claim recommendations concerning reserve changes.
- Work alongside underwriters and other business partners to add value to our service proposition.
- Will report directly to the Head of Claims (Spain).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Should have capability of handling large and complex claims.
- First party insurance experience dealing with Lead and Follow claims
- A minimum 3 years of property claim handling experience and/or additional jurisdictions or matching equivalency
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
