Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lawyers Professional Liability underwriter to join our team based in our NY office. We are looking for a hard-working teammate who values collaborative culture and is focused on building a portfolio based on profitability over top-line growth.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Continue to establish BHSI’s presence as a leader in the LPL market.
- Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships.
- Underwrite complex and challenging risks while developing creative solutions for our partners.
- Execute on underwriting strategy focused on profitable growth of the overall portfolio.
- Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace.
- Effectively communicate BHSI’s value proposition to brokers and customers.
- Work closely with our in-house claims team to help create a positive and transparent experience for our customers.
- Collaborate with teammates across all product lines.
- Up to 30% travel will be required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 5-10 years of experience underwriting Lawyers Professional Liability or other industry related experience.
- Strong technical skills in Lawyers Professional Liability.
- Experienced marketing to large, specialized brokers.
- Proven client development experience.
- Collaborative and team-focused mentality.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 to $175,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
