Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Casualty Claims Consultant, based in our Sydney office.

This role will report to the Head of Third Party Claims, and will be responsible for managing third-party Public and Products Liability claims involving injury and property damage across the Casualty portfolio, with some exposure to Medical Negligence claims.

The successful candidate will join a highly regarded, collaborative environment committed to delivering best-in-class service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-level customer service and end-to-end claims management, with a proactive approach to delivering strong outcomes for our customers.
  • Investigate and manage claims in close collaboration with insureds and brokers, including assessing coverage and liability, evaluating reserve adequacy, identifying risk management opportunities, and driving timely resolution.
  • Engage and manage external providers, including loss adjusters and legal counsel, to support effective claims handling.
  • Collaborate with the broader Claims team and Casualty Underwriters to ensure aligned and consistent outcomes.
  • Travel occasionally to attend customer and broker meetings, mediations, conferences, and other industry events.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ claims experience handling Casualty, Medical Negligence or Third Party claims.
  • A high level of professionalism and personal responsibility.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
