Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced program leader to join our Global Operations team as Assistant Vice President, End-to-End (E2E) Program Manager, based in Boston. This is a new position reporting to the Vice President, End-to-End Program Manager.

This role plays a critical part in delivering large, complex, cross-functional initiatives that support BHSI’s continued global growth. It provides direct exposure to senior leaders across the company and meaningful involvement in work that shapes how BHSI operates, scales, and delivers on its most important priorities.

The AVP, E2E Program Manager partners directly with business leaders to execute their vision, translating strategic objectives into structured, executable programs and aligning all accountable teams to deliver against commitments and realize intended business outcomes.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 10+ years of program management experience, culminating into experience leading large, complex, cross-functional programs in insurance or financial services.
  • Strong, hands-on project and program management expertise, with the ability to manage detailed execution while maintaining a clear view of overall outcomes.
  • Deep understanding of property & casualty insurance business functions, including underwriting, operations, policy administration, finance, compliance, and regulatory considerations.
  • Strong governance and stakeholder management experience, including steering committee facilitation and executive-level communication.
  • Experience driving business readiness and adoption, including process impacts, training, and transition to operations.
  • Ability to operate effectively with limited direct authority, using influence, structure, and clarity to drive outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a global insurance organization or similarly complex, regulated environment.
  • Experience leading initiatives such as system implementations, business transformations, regulatory programs, or country/market expansions.
  • Familiarity working with external delivery partners and coordinating across onshore/offshore teams and working across time zones.
  • Program or project management certification (PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, or similar).

This role is primarily focused on Property, supporting our General Property as well as Technical Property & Construction portfolios.   • Assist with the full underwriting process, including account booking, documentation, and workflow coordination.

  • Support additional operational tasks, including coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Commercial insurance experience, ideally within Property and/or Construction, exposure to Casualty and Financial Lines is a plus.

This position is a great fit for a 3+ year, experienced underwriter looking to expand their responsibilities and underwriting knowledge and grow a book of business. We are seeking an individual who is hard working, team oriented, passionate and always striving towards excellence. The candidate must be able to learn new products and have the ability to work both independently and to collaborate with all levels and all disciplines. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in Inland Marine lines (including Builders Risk, Contractors’ Equipment and Motor Truck Cargo). The title of the role will be commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate.

This is a full time, permanent, and in-office position.

Position Overview

Handle day-to-day responsibilities as an Inland Marine Underwriter working closely with the North American Marine team. Tasks will include but not limited to, developing business with national and regional distribution channels throughout Canada, prequalifying accounts, and utilizing underwriting acumen to select sound marine risks. Expand and develop new business opportunities through production & marketing calls with brokers and clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and build the Marine book of business which includes both Inland Marine and Ocean Cargo coverages.
  • Establish, develop, and expand broker and customer relationships working independently and in conjunction with other BHSI product lines.
  • Underwrite and grow the book of business.
  • Prequalify new business.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5+ years insurance experience.
  • 3-5+ years inland underwriting, and appetite experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong existing broker relationships.
  • Strong underwriting in Inland Marine.

  • Serve as the Product Owner/BSA for program/delegated authority business onboarding — develop deep understanding of BHSI applications and associated data and make determinations on data interpretation to support onboarding.
  • Act as primary liaison across BHSI IT, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, Finance, and Data & Analytics to align requirements and coordinate delivery from due diligence through go-live.
  • Facilitate requirements workshops, design sessions, and status meetings across all stakeholder groups.
  • Manage cross-workstream dependencies, risks, and issues; escalate proactively when needed.
  • Negotiate and gather required policy, premium, claims, and risk exposure data from Brokers, MGAs, Cover holders, or TPAs in close collaboration with BHSI stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal BHSI teams and business stakeholders to develop insights, analytics, and reports that identify portfolio trends, potential risks, and areas for improvement — including monitoring Broker, MGA, Cover holder, and TPA adherence to Program Management Agreements (PMAs) and Binding Authority Agreements.
  • Define data standards, mapping rules, and validation criteria in partnership with cross-functional teams and external partners prior to onboarding.
  • Analyze and map data to verify accuracy and completeness, including identifying duplicate entries, missing information, or incorrect values.
  • Validate data accuracy and quality throughout the onboarding lifecycle; escalate data issues to internal teams as necessary and drive timely resolution.
  • Work with data engineering teams to integrate data into BHSI platforms.
  • Perform acceptance testing on loaded data to ensure reconciliation to source files and alignment with defined mapping and validation rules.
  • Monitor and address data quality issues post-load to ensure compliance with agreed standards and timelines.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for master/reference data management, data mapping, data modelling, and data integration within the Bordereaux Processing Platforms.
  • Maintain up-to-date process and training documentation for application procedures.
  • Implement continuous improvement processes to ensure scalability, increase efficiency, reduce errors, and improve oversight and decision-making.
  • Stay current on market standards and evolving bordereau data and processing requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Insurance/Risk Management, ora related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or equivalent role in financial services or insurance.
  • 5+ years of experience in the (Re)insurance industry across US Property & Casualty, International Markets, or Life, Accident & Health segments.
  • Demonstrated experience with program/delegated authority business, including familiarity with Bordereau reports (premium, claims, exposure).
  • Proven experience coordinating across cross-functional teams including IT, Operations, Underwriting, Claims, and Finance.
  • Experience negotiating and managing data requirements with external partners (Brokers, MGAs, Cover holders, or TPAs).
  • Strong ability to influence and work effectively across a global organization at all levels.
  • Motivated, team-oriented, with strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Strong skills in requirements elicitation, process mapping, data mapping, and gap analysis across business and technology teams.
  • Hands-on experience with UAT/acceptance testing — writing test cases, executing tests, and managing defect resolution.
  • Working knowledge of SQL or equivalent query tools for data validation and analysis.
  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical abilities, particularly in data interpretation and problem resolution.
  • Excellent organizational, written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Bordereaux processing platforms or Bordereau management systems used in program/delegated authority operations.
  • Familiarity with Binding Authority Agreements and Program Management Agreements (PMAs), including monitoring compliance against agreed terms.
  • Knowledge of insurance data standards such as ACORD, Lloyd's market standards, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Understanding data integration approaches (ETL, APIs, file-based exchange) in an insurance technology context —abilityto engage meaningfully with data engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of insurance policy administration, claims, and financial/actuarial reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or hybrid SDLC methodologies and associated tooling (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience in Lloyd's, London market, or E&S specialty lines environments.
  • Understanding ofregulatory, compliance, and audit requirements related to delegated authority arrangements.
  • Experience working in matrixed, global organizations with multi-team, multi-geography delivery models.
  • Professional certifications such as CBAP, CPCU, AINS, or PMP are a plus.

The base salary range for this position in Boston, MA is $120,000 to $140,000, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
