Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Technician to join the Canadian Casualty team based in our Toronto office.
The Underwriting Technician (UT) will play a critical role in supporting the Canada Casualty team in Toronto and Calgary. The individual will perform tasks to directly support the underwriting process, including but not limited to information collection, analysis, pre-quote process, policy binding and post-binding transactions. The Underwriting Technician will also support our Casualty team with operational support, as well as our external partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support underwriters with all activities related to account development and management of submissions.
- Maintain underwriting files and ensure file integrity.
- Correspond with brokers, follow-up on outstanding information.
- Coordinate policy issuance and liaise with Operations team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and make quick decisions while maintaining underwriting integrity.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years professional experience.
- Will consider candidates without insurance experience who have strong administrative, analytical and communication skills – both verbal and written and a willingness to learn.
- Self-starter; ability to support and build workflow and process.
- Strong attention to detail, customer service and problem-solving skills.
- High organizational and time management skills.
- Strong competency in MS Office applications.
- Must be proactive and able to work within a team environment.

Pay Transparency
The base salary range for this position in Toronto is $68,000 CAD to $72,000 CAD, along with annual bonus eligibility. Total compensation for a candidate is determined by their relevant skills, location, and experience.
