Job Opportunity:

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a Claims Operations Analyst in its Claims Operations team in Kuala Lumpur. This is an established, dynamic team that continues to grow and evolve in support of the claims sector of the BHSI organization.

The ideal candidate will have an operations and service-orientated mindset; someone who can work independently with minimal supervision, but also play a role in the continued development and growth of the operations team. Experience in Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance and Operations is highly preferred.

This position supports a variety of claims related functions, ranging from first notice of loss intake and claim creation for various commercial insurance lines of business, to payments, management reporting and liaison with our operations teams around the world.

This is a visible and interactive role supporting claims handlers across the Asia Middle East, Australia and New Zealand, our business partners and our external customers. The role requires a strong level of attention to detail, commitment to customer service and quality, the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, and to prioritize and handle multiple activities simultaneously.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform any combination of calculating, posting, and verifying financial transactions including payments and recoveries. Experience with multiple currencies and/or concepts is beneficial given the regional scope of the role.
  • Evaluate, review and analyze policies against new claim loss reports to determine the claim type, appropriate policy coverage provisions, correct coding and claims handler assignments, as well as responses to brokers and insureds.
  • Acknowledge claims to insureds and brokers in a professional, accurate and timely manner according to account specific guidelines.
  • Focus on processing incoming work items within established turn-around times with high quality and accurate data entry.
  • Assist in the development and production of reports and analytics using software such as Excel, Power BI and Duck Creek.
  • Participate and execute process improvement activities in the team based on interaction and collaboration with the claims team.
  • Learn and utilize technology for work processing in a changing and evolving environment.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities in tandem.
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to resolve issues effectively.
  • Good analytical skills, attention to detail, with the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Quick learner, flexible and adaptable to a changing environment with the ability to work in team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of individuals across different locations in Asia, India, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Experience in commercial insurance preferred; this can be combination of claims, underwriting, or education.
  • Demonstrated integrity, passion for excellence and collaboration across functions.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge in data analytical tool for example the Power BI is an added advantage.
  • Minimum education level in Diploma or bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
