Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned Claims leader in our Executive & Professional Claims team. As the Senior Vice President of Professional & Executive Claims with responsibility for Cyber/Tech E&O, EPLI, Lawyers Professional, Private Not for Profit D&O and Transactional Liability teams, you’re at the center of the Claims is Our Product business. You will use your skills, experience and knowledge to meet both our external and internal customer’s needs. You are both a leader and technical expert in the field(s) with the ability to provide guidance and advise on strategy to your units in line with our claim(s) philosophy and overall business strategy. In addition to being detail – oriented, organized, and analytical, you possess the strong and practical business judgment and have the communication skills needed to interact with internal and external business partners in different situations. You excel in a collaborative environment, embrace challenges and are able to handle multiple demands in a Team environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- You are a key member of the North American Claims leadership team.
- Setting objectives for all teammates and managing their performance throughout the year.
- Work closely with our Underwriting, Actuarial, Legal and Customer and Broker engagement teammates.
- Assist in the development of claims strategy, assess market trends and provide analysis on claim activity.
- Meet and participate in meetings with our customers and broker partners as business needs to ensure we are delivering best in class claims service.
- Review new losses, evaluating coverage, advise Operations on the assignment of claims, monitor ongoing handling, ensure timely and accurate reserving, and claim resolution.
- Supervise various teams and ensure service standards are adhered to.
- Support and participate with underwriting on their business strategies, plans, forms, and service.
- Conduct and review file reviews for trends and areas of opportunity for enhancements.
- Monitor expenses, balance caseloads and ensure efficient use of resources.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- 20+ years of experience in the in one or more of the lines as outlined above.
- 10+ years of people management experience.
- Strong litigation management skills required; and
- JD strongly preferred.

The base salary range for this position is from $250,000 – $280,000 along with annual bonus eligibility; a candidate’s actual salary is commensurate with experience as determined by their relevant skills and experience.
