Job Opportunity:
BHSI has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join our globally focused Actuarial Reporting team. We are looking for an individual who has both an ability to excel and an excellence of character. The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for a wide variety of projects central to enhancing BHSI’s analytics and reporting capabilities within the global actuarial team. The Senior Data Analyst will collaborate with various functions across the organization and drive projects and deliverables for the team. The ideal individual will have both the technical abilities to query and analyze data as well as the collaborative qualities to work with actuaries, underwriters, operations, and IT across various data related initiatives. A candidate with a passion for problem solving with data and a desire to constantly learn and apply new skills will be successful in this role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Utilize SQL to identify, extract, interpret, and analyze data for reporting.
- Proactively engage with actuaries and business units to understand reporting requirements and translate them into meaningful output.
- Drive reporting initiatives across a multitude of platforms for audiences across all products, regions, and management to support business needs and underwriting results.
- Perform data validations and reconciliations between various sources and reports with precision and attention to detail to ensure deliverables are accurate and effective.
- Coordinate and implement the integration of various data sources to a central repository through sound testing, documentation, and execution of strategy.
- Provide technical support to actuaries and underwriters using the combination of tools needed to best complete each task (e.g. SQL, Excel, VBA).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Computer Science or related field.
- 4+ years of analytical experience, within insurance industry preferred.
- Advanced proficiency of SQL and Excel required.
- Experience in Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, R, Python programming preferred.
- Familiarity with data modelling and experience working within complex data environments.
- Proven track record of collaboration across functions delivering quality results in an efficient manner.
- Intellectual curiosity and a passion for analyzing large volumes of data to generate insights.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and on teams.
- Strong desire to learn from and share knowledge with teammates.
- Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time.
