Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has an exciting opportunity in our Sydney office for a Claims Consultant, specialising in Accident and Health (A&H). This role will report directly to the A&H Claims Manager and will be a great opportunity for an experienced Claims professional to expand their scope of experience in a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to providing best in class claims service.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage high value group personal accident claims and assist with managing A&H referrals from Third Party Administrators (TPA).
- Assess policy coverage, claim reserving and where possible, identify and pursue recovery opportunities.
- Provide high levels of customer service with clear communication to insureds and brokers with a proactive approach to achieving strong results for insured.
- Being the market face of A&H claims for BHSI and working together with customers, brokers and vendors to drive claims to timely and appropriate solutions.
- Work closely with underwriters and actuaries to report on claim developments and trends and support the delivery of BHSI’s plans, goals and objectives.
- Work closely with the Claims Operations and IT teams to develop and improve systems and processes for effective claims handling.
- Participate and execute process improvement activities in the team based on interaction and collaboration with the stakeholders.
- Work with the underwriting team in developing new products and wordings.
- As needed travel to customer / broker meetings, site inspections, mediations, conferences etc.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least 3 years of Accident & Health claim handling experience.
- Ability to work independently and assimilate learning materials on many different subjects from various sources.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.
- Strong time management and organization skills, and ability to manage a high volume of frequency claims.
