Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Claims Examiner – E&P Segmentation. At Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, our claims professionals are an integral part of our business. This position is a great opportunity for claims professional who is looking for an opportunity to learn and develop their career and join our growing team in Atlanta, GA.
In this role, the Associate Claims Examiner will have a unique opportunity to handle, monitor and adjust E&P claims in a highly collaborative team environment dedicated to best in class claims handling. Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Review, triage, and/or monitor/adjust all lines of business in E&P claims while ensuring the highest level of customer service and technical claim file quality.
- Review policies, address coverage, draft coverage letters as appropriate, and communicate coverage positions effectively.
- Proactively handle claims from first notice of loss, develop information needed to address liability, damages, and potential exposure.
- Collaborate with insured, broker, underlying adjusters, and defense counsel to develop information needed to address liability, damages, and potential exposure.
- Evaluate claims for potential exposure, draft reports, set reserve within authority and make recommendation for resolution or escalation to technical team.
- Travel to conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- High School Diploma.
- 1-2 years of casualty claims operations/administration experience or matching equivalency.
- Ability to work independently and as appropriate escalate issues, trends, and exposure to manager.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Must have, or will obtain, any required licenses.
